Physostegia virginiana, or the Obediant plant was so named because if you push it's little funnel-shaped flowers out of place they will stay for a bit. Speaking of funnel-shaped flowers. These are prime feeding grounds for hummingbirds. Obediant plants are a brilliant pink or white that grow to a medium size, of two to five feet, so make sure it get's behind your Alexanders. Obediant plant enjoys full, blazing sun, in early spring and summer so look for it to welcome the spring. Physostegia virginiana loves the shores of stream or ponds. Obediant plant will add just one more splash of color for your rain garden habitat.
